What is cancer.

Cells are the building blocks of living things.

Cancer grows out of normal cells in the body. Normal cells multiply when the body needs them, and die when the body doesn't need them. Cancer appears to occur when the growth of cells in the body is out of control and cells divide too quickly. It can also occur when cells forget how to die. These abnormal cells then  divide without control and are able to invade other tissues. Cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body through the blood arterial system of human body
Causes-
The vast majority of cancers are occasional. There is no clear cause why one person gets cancer and another does not.
A risk factor is anything that increases a person`s chance of developing cancer.
Different cancers have different risk factors.
  • Use of tobacco,
  • certain diets,
  • alcohol,
  • exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation,
  • exposure to cancer causing agents (carcinogens)

in the environment and the workplace are some of the potential catalysts of cancer. However, these factors increase a person`s risk but do not always "cause" the disease.

Up to 85 per cent of cancers can be prevented by avoiding environmental risk factors like:

  1. smoking,
  2. sun exposure,
  3. alcohol abuse
  4. and poor nutrition.
Though age, race, gender and family history cannot be changed, knowing your personal cancer risk can help you devise a prevention strategy with regular screenings and healthy lifestyle choices.

Cure:

Even thought there is no verified cure for cancer yet. There are many different treatments for the disease.
  1. Boosting the immune system-
  2. Anti-cancer vaccine — based on exposing some cancer cells extracted from a tumour to UV rays for 24 hrs then injecting them back into the organism, this approach has already been successful on rats.
  3. Chemotherapy
  4. Gene therapy
  5. Photodynamic therapy
  6. Radiation therapy
  7. Reoviridae (Reolysin drug therapy)
  8. Targeted therapy
We would be going deep into all these above topics in the later blog posts.
Till then Keep Living and Loving.
